  • Tax Manager (Full-Time)

    Dugan + Lopatka is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing Tax Department. This role is designed for a technically strong professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, managing client relationships, and leading engagement execution.

    This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Chicago’s western suburbs, serving closely held businesses, their owners, and related entities.


    Responsibilities:

    • Review and manage preparation of federal and state income tax returns for closely held businesses, individuals, and trusts
    • Own engagements from planning through delivery, including timelines, staffing, and client communication
    • Ensure work is complete, accurate, and supported by clear documentation
    • Analyze and resolve technical tax issues; escalate when appropriate
    • Provide direct, actionable feedback to staff and seniors; support development through coaching
    • Communicate proactively with clients to manage expectations and deliverables
    • Maintain accountability for engagement timelines, budgets, and overall execution
    • Contribute to and help lead tax planning and advisory engagements, focusing on practical outcomes
    • Manage multiple engagements while maintaining quality and responsiveness
    • Support continuous improvement in processes, workflow, and team communication

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience at the manager level in public accounting
    • Strong technical foundation across pass-through entities, individual taxation, and multi-state compliance
    • Demonstrated ability to independently manage engagements and make informed technical decisions
    • High attention to detail
    • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize effectively across competing demands
    • Clear, direct communicator with both clients and internal teams
    • CPA or EA required
    • International Tax Experience a plus, but not required.

    • Deliverables are complete, accurate, and technically sound
    • Clients experience clear ownership and proactive communication
    • Engagements stay on track through early identification and resolution of issues
    • Staff receive timely, actionable feedback and continue to develop
