Dugan & Lopatka honors our founder, Mike Dugan

Dugan & Lopatka is proud to honor the memory of our founder, Mike Dugan, by supporting the Naperville Field of Honor on display at Rotary Hill from November 1-11.  Mike passed away on October 26, 2019.

Mike was a member of the US Army and served in the financial corps in Germany, flourishing under the mentorship of Lt. Col. Komarow.  Mike grew up on the southside of Chicago in West Pullman and graduated from Chicago Vocational High School. After a year at Anderson College in Anderson, IN, he returned to Chicago and married Gail Ewing at the West Pullman Church of God.

Mike went on to pass the CPA exam and began work at Arthur Andersen. He often said “I had an entrepreneurial seizure, fired Arthur Andersen and went into business for myself.” Beginning small, the firm of Dugan & Lopatka grew to more than 40 employees. He had a passion for helping others to succeed in their businesses which is encapsulated in the firm’s motto: “The Difference is Planning.” Mike was the founder and managing principal of Dugan & Lopatka but the role he most cherished was Director of Joy.

The Naperville Healing Field of Honor® Committee in conjunction with the Naperville Park District brings an inspirational display of the Stars and Stripes again to Rotary Hill. People have the opportunity to purchase a flag, dedicate a flag to a veteran and/or become a sponsor.  Proceeds benefit Operation Support Our Troops-America, an organization whose name says it all.

Remembering a Century of Heroes and Heritage, the Naperville Field of Honor® display posts 2019 United States Flags on Rotary Hill in tribute to the American Legion and the veterans that make up their ranks, as the Legion serves all the men and women who have defended our nation.

The Naperville Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers.
