Job Overview
Innovative accounting firm Dugan + Lopatka CPAs is seeking an experienced Tax Director. In this client-facing leadership role, the Tax Director will manage client relationships, oversee business development, mentor staff, and leverage foundational tax knowledge to help businesses minimize their tax burden and effectively communicate strategies.
The ideal candidate is both an experienced CPA and a passionate leader, as well as a “people-person” who can connect with clients and staff. As a leadership position, the Tax Director may have future ownership opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Engage with a wide variety of clients to grow relationships and develop effective tax strategies.
- Counsel, coach and mentor staff while also fostering work-life balance and a healthy, inclusive company culture.
- Develop the Dugan + Lopatka business. Actively participate in the growth of our firm, collaborating with leadership to develop and execute business growth strategies; identifying opportunities for improved efficiency; targeting and building relationships with prospects; bringing forward innovative ideas to expand and enrich our offerings; and ensuring that D+L remains at the cutting edge of the industry.
- Work with a diverse team of CPAs to advise clients on tax planning, consulting, and compliance. Formulate and deliver innovative tax-planning and savings strategies, while helping clients navigate complex business situations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
- Master’s degree (preferred)
- CPA
- 10+ years of public accounting experience, with significant work experience in tax planning and compliance
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to motivate staff and manage client relationships
- Excellent organization, analytic, research, and critical-thinking skills
- Passionate about fostering a healthy, inclusive culture where a diverse team of professionals can thrive
- Driven to identify new opportunities, pursue leads, cultivate client relationships, plan for the future, and grow the D+L business
