Karen M. Olson is a principal in the accounting firm of Dugan & Lopatka, CPAs in Wheaton, Illinois. Karen has more than 30 years experience in public accounting and has extensive client service responsibilities where she provides audit and accounting services to clients as well as providing tax compliance and planning services.

Karen works with nonprofit clients of a variety of types including health and welfare organizations, religious entities and trade associations. Her broad skill base enables her to assist clients in many different ways from converting financial reporting systems to conforming with and staying abreast of new nonprofit compliance regulations and accounting rules to year-end tax planning. She is a past treasurer of her church, which gives her specific insight into church operations and needs.

She is a 1972 graduate of the University of Illinois. She is a member of the AICPA, an active member in two task forces of the Illinois CPA Society and active in many nonprofit organizations. She has written articles on various subjects and made presentations to various groups. Karen was with Smart & Associates prior to merging her practice into Dugan & Lopatka.
