How Can Facebook Hashtags Help Your Business?

Facebook Announces Hashtags – How It Can Help Your Business?

Twitter made the hashtag (#) famous and Facebook is joining other social media services such as Instagram, Tumblr and Google+ in offering this functionality. If you are unfamiliar with hashtags, a hashtag is a word or a phrase prefixed with the symbol #, referred to as the hash symbol outside North America. Hashtags provide a means of grouping short messages on social media services allowing a person to search for the hashtag and get the set of messages that contain the word(s). Hashtags are mostly used as unmoderated ad-hoc discussion forums. Any combination of characters led by a hash sign is a hashtag, and any hashtag, if promoted by enough individuals, can "trend" and attract more individual users to discussion using the hashtag.

What Will the Facebook Hashtag Do?

Hashtags can help market your business. By giving your customers a hashtag in your social media posts and encourage them to use it in their own statuses, could lead to a greater reach and the possibility of viral exposure for your company brand.

Hashtags also offer you the ability to track feedback from your customers without having to directly solicit it. Hashtags will empower your customers with the freedom to tell the world about their impression of your products/services. Following the conversations will not only help you uncover areas that are in need of improvement, it will also help you to capture their words for testimonials which can then be used to entice prospective customers to buy your product or service.

With a subscriber based of over 900 million people on Facebook, Facebook hashtags will enhance your marketing efforts by easily allowing you the ability to track what's "in" and avoid what's "out". Information you can use in other marketing tactics.
